Greater Glider Detection Report – 298-516-0003 'Pony'
Within VicForests active logging coupe 298-516-0003 an investigation was undertaken to identify the presence/absence of threatened Greater Gliders inhabiting the area. This report details the presence of 7 Greater Gliders (Petauroides volans) recorded within VicForests active logging coupe 298-516-0003.
The following report concludes that VicForests has commenced with logging operations within a critical area of forest inhabited by the threatened Greater Glider, listed under the ‘Flora and Fauna Guarantee Act 1988’ as of 2017. Recommendations are made to the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP) to ensure the protection of this significant population of greater gliders. The introduction, methodology, results, discussion and recommendations from the evidence obtained during the nocturnal survey are detailed below.
