Leadbeater's Possum Detection Report – 462-503-0006 'Road 20'
A remote motion-sensor camera was set up adjacent VicForests active coupe 462-503-0006 to assess the presence/absence of the Critically Endangered Leadbeater's Possum (Gymnobelideus leadbeateri). At least one Leadbeater's Possum (LBP) individual was identified during this survey within approximately 100m of VicForests timber harvesting operations. This investigation concludes that VicForests have commenced logging operations in an area of forest currently inhabited by the LBP and have clearfelled habitat of the critically endangered LBP. The methodology employed, the results of the investigation and the report’s conclusions and recommendations are detailed below.
