Leadbeater's Possum Detection Report – Wattle Path Spur Coupes
Patches of suitable habitat within and adjacent VicForests scheduled logging coupes along Wattle Path Spur (300-541-0002, 307-504-0001, 307-504-0002, 307-504-0003, 307-504-0004, 307-504- 0033, 307-504-0036) were actively surveyed to determine presence/absence of the Critically Endangered Leadbeater's Possum (Gymnobelideus leadbeateri). Across the dates of this investigation WOTCH surveyors detected 7 individual Leadbeater's Possums within and adjacent the Wattle Path Spur coupes. This investigation concludes that VicForests has scheduled mass areas of Leadbeater’s Possum habitat for clearfelling along the Wattle Path Spur, Toolangi/Black Range State Forests. The methodology employed, the results of the investigation and the report’s conclusions and recommendations are detailed below.
